The game finished with the Blugolds 12 points ahead, but it took them nearly 29 minutes to solidify a commanding lead.

Superior led right away, scoring the first five points of the game. The Blugolds and Yellowjackets then went back and forth but Eau Claire was able to build an eight-point lead with nine minutes to play in the first half after a Laura Olson (Jr.-Osseo, Wis./Osseo-Fairchild) three-pointer.

But the Yellowjackets wouldn't go away and tied the game at 26 points after a 10-2 run. The Blugolds held Superior to just two points the rest of the half to take a five-point lead (33-28) into halftime.

In the second half, while Superior cut the Blugolds' lead to just three right away, Eau Claire then went on a 9-1 run to get up by 11. Superior again came back with an 8-4 run to make Eau Claire's lead only seven but Nicole Christianson (Jr.-Chetek, Wis.) hit a three-pointer to begin an 18-6 Blugold run that put Eau Claire up by 19 points.

While 19 points was the Blugolds' largest lead of the night, Superior outscored the Blugolds 17-10 over the final six minutes but the Blugolds were able to keep a double-digit lead the rest of the way.

Five Blugolds reached double-figures in scoring, led by Hannah Mesick (Sr.-Chatfield, Minn.) with 17 points. She also had a game-high eight rebounds.
