Men's Cross Country Takes Sixth at Blugold Invite

COLFAX, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire men's cross country team finished in sixth place out of 22 teams at its annual Blugold Invitational at Whitetail Golf Course today.

The Blugolds finished with 183 points while UW-La Crosse won the meet with 49. St. Olaf College (Minn.) took second with 79 and UW-Stout was third with 102.

UW-Stout's Tim Nelson led the field of 372 runners as he finished with a time of 24:36.5.

For the Blugolds, Aaron Easker (Jr.-Eland, Wis./Wittenberg-Birnamwood) had the best finish as he came in sixth place with a time of 25:25.1.

Conor Rafferty (Jr.-Menomonee Falls, Wis.) was the next Blugold to cross the line, finishing 48th in a time of 26:22.8. Matt Scott (So.-Kiel, Wis.) was just behind with a time of 26:23.5 in 49th place.

The next finisher for Eau Claire was Paul Hetke (Jr.-Chetek, Wis.) with a time of 26:33.2 in 59th place while Matt Wenaas (So.-Chippewa Falls, Wis./McDonell) was 68th with a time of 26:38.2.

The Blugolds will now take a two-week break before competing at the Jim Drews Invitational, hosted by UW-La Crosse, in West Salem on October 15. Race time is set for 10:30 a.m.
