Men's Cross Country Earns Second at 25th Roy Griak Invite

ST. PAUL, Minn. (Blugolds.com) - A day after winning the SMU No Limits Invite, the UW-Eau Claire men's cross country team finished second of 30 teams at the 2010 Roy Griak Cross Invitational at the Les Bolstad Golf Course.

En route to the second place finish in the Division III contest, the Blugolds completed the race with an average time of 26:30.4 and a total of 99 points. University of Wisconsin schools claimed the top three places in the run, as UW-Platteville won the event with 47 points while UW-Oshkosh earned third with 123 points.

Leading the way for the Blugolds were Tom Breitbach (Sr.-Muskego, Wis.), who raced the course in 26:12.1 for seventh place, and Jeremy Kieser (Jr.-Verona, Wis.), who ran a 26:23.8 for 15th place. Aaron Easker (So.-Eland, Wis./Wittenberg-Birnamwood )and Aric Runzheimer (So.-Delafield, Wis./Kettle Moraine) finished beside each other in the 22nd and 23rd spots with respective times of 26:34.9 and 26.37.9. Max Renner (Sr.-Green Bay, Wis./East) completed the top five for the Blugolds, recording a time of 26:42.9 good enough for 32nd place.

UW-Eau Claire's own Blugold Open is the next race for the team. The event is scheduled to begin in Colfax, Wis. at 5 p.m. on October 1.
