RIVER FALLS, Wis. (blugolds.com) - The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's basketball team dropped to UW-River Falls on Wednesday night, 78-58.

Box Score

Carter Brooks (Sr.-Lakeville, MN/North) and Spencer Page (Jr.-Rice Lake, WI) got Eau Claire going early, scoring the first eight points of the game. The Blugolds would maintain that lead for the majority of the first half, until River Falls hit a three to send them into half leading 31-29.

Eau Claire was terrific from three-point range in the first, going 6-10. Five different players would hit from downtown, with two coming from David Ijadimbola (Fr.-Brooklyn Park, MN/Park Center).

The Blugolds were on the wrong side of a run to begin the second half. They still shot the ball well from three-point territory, but the offense couldn't keep up.

Despite numerous opportunities to tighten the score, UWEC was unable to mount a serious comeback attempt.

Eau Claire shot nearly 36% from the field and nearly 45% from three on the night. The top scorer was Ijadimbola, who had 13 points on 4-9 shooting. Brooks added 10 points, while Cam Kuepers (Sr.-Madison, WI/Lakeside Lutheran) had eight. The Blugolds blocked three shots in the game, with two of them coming from Alex Voigt (So.-Sun Prairie, WI).

The loss drops Eau Claire to 2-3 on the 2021 season. They will have a chance to avenge the loss on Friday night against UW-River Falls. They'll return to McPhee Center, where they are 1-1 on the season. Follow the action on Blugold Game Day.
