Shea Named ESPN Academic All-American

TOWSON, Md. (Blugolds.com) - UW-Eau Claire linebacker Ben Shea (Sr.-Manitowoc, Wis./Lincoln) has been named to the 2010 ESPN Academic All-American Football Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Shea becomes just the 36th Blugold in history to have ever received the honor. Only six other football players have been selected as an Academic All-American with Paul Bielmeier most recently receiving the honor in 2008.

Shea, a second team selection, holds a 3.84 grade point average and will graduate next fall with a degree in criminal justice. Earlier this year he was named a semifinalist for The National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame (NFF) 2010 William V. Campbell Trophy.

He was second on the team this season with 62 tackles while he forced one fumble and recovered one.
