Game 1 Box Score | Game 2 Box Score

Henry Pitsch (Fr.-Madison, WI/West) would score the first run of the game for the Blugolds in the fourth inning. He got on base with a leadoff single and advanced to third off a hit from Otto Treichel (So.-Madison, WI/West). Pitsch would then cross home plate off a sacrifice fly from Justin Pecora (Fr.-South Barrington, IL).

Eau Claire added to that 1-0 lead in the eighth, thanks again to Pitsch, who hit a solo home run.

The Blugolds finished with ten hits in total, with Pitsch and Treichel recording three apiece and Pecora adding two more.

On the mound, Tom Ginther (Sr.-Rock Springs, WI/Baraboo) put together a masterful performance. He recorded a complete game shutout, striking out nine batters along the way.

In game two the Blugold bats were alive, as they finished with 12 hits. The offense exploded for six runs in the second inning to gain an initial lead, as three different Blugolds recorded RBIs, including two from Logan Matson.

Eau Claire added three runs apiece in the fifth and sixth innings, before another big offensive outburst in the seventh. Will Jilek led things off with a walk and scored off a single from Cade Mueller. The Blugolds would score four more runs in the inning, leading 17-8 heading into the eighth.

Jilek again began the offense in the eighth with a walk and scored off a single from David Janssen to cap off the night 18-8.

Pitsch, Janssen and Mueller led UWEC with two hits each. Pitsch also tied for the team lead in RBIs with three, joining Matson and Chase Yaeger. On the mound, Will Mosinki was awarded with the win, with six strikeouts in five innings.

The two teams will return to Carson Park tomorrow for another doubleheader, with first pitch times at 1 and 4 PM. Follow the action on Blugold Game Day.
