Women's Tennis Downs UW-Stout

MENOMONIE, WIS (Blugolds.com)- The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's tennis team notched a win on the road Wednesday, defeating the University of Wisconsin-Stout, 9-0.

Results: 

Natalie Wijesinghe (Apple Valley, MN) led the Blugolds with a win at No.1 singles, the junior defeated Thisius of UW-Stout 6-1, 6-3. Molly Stewart (Amery, WI) had a great day with a dominating win at No. 2 singles. The senior earned a 6-0, 6-1, over Sandry (STOUT).  Emily Cooper  (White Bear, Minn.) defeated Kleist (STOUT) at number three singles, while Hanna Zevenbergen (Baldwin,Wis./ Baldwin-Woodville) was victories at the number four slot. First year players Emma Barnd (Wells, Minn./Unites South Central) and Rachel Slonac (Muskego,Wis.) earned wins at the number five and six slot, respectively. 

In doubles action Wijesinghe and Cooper took down the number one doubles pair Thisius/Sandry (STOUT) 8-5, while Zevenbergen and Stewart earned another win at the number two doubles slot. Lindsey Henderson (Prior Lake, Minn.) paired up with sophomore Alexa Brooks (Beaver Dam, Wis.) the duo won 8-1 at number three doubles. 

The Blugolds improve to 1-1 in conference play, and will travel to UW-River Falls on October 3rd.
