The University of Wisconsin Eau Claire women's tennis team finished second out of eight teams at the 48th annual Warhawk Invitational. The tournament was played out at three indoor facilities – Janesville Athletic Club, Lake Geneva Tennis Club and Premier Tennis and Fitness – due to weather in the Whitewater area. The Blugolds finished second with 37 points just behind UW-Whitewater who finished with 40 points.

Emily Cooper (White Bear, Minn. ) won the number two singles championship, earning wins over Hamilton (Grinell) and Badawi (Aug) in the first two rounds. The sophomore defeated Madeline Slicker (UWW) in the championship match, winning 6-7 (4), 6-2, 1-0 (10-5). Natalie Wijesinghe (Apple Valley, Minn.) took fourth place in the number one singles bracket.
The doubles duo of Hanna Zevenbergen (Baldwin, Wis. / Baldwin-Woodville) and Gabby Oswald (Watertown, Wis.) had an impressive day winning the number two doubles championship. The pair defeated Sami Koppa/Ireland Slattery (UWO) 8-4 in the first round, and Isabel Green/Brenda Guan (Grinnell) 8-6 in the second round. Zevenbergen and Oswald earned the title over Shira Busch/Kaitlyn Kalinka (UWL) 8-7 (3). Molly Stewart (Amery, WI) and Lindsey Henderson (Prior Lake, Minn. ) took fourth in the number one doubles bracket, while Kennedy Rusk (Nisswa, Minn./ Brainerd) and Emma Barnd (Wells, Minn./ United South Central) took third place in the number three doubles bracket.
The Blugold women will host Saint Bennedict on Saturday September 8 at the John and Fay Menard Tennis Center in Eau Claire, Wis. at 11:00am .
