BELTON, Texas (Blugolds.com)-The UW-Eau Claire women's tennis team put forth a dominant effort on Tuesday, defeating Mary Hardin-Baylor (TX) 9-0. The Blugolds improve to 11-1 on the season and remain undefeated on their spring break trip to Texas.
In the doubles matches, the combinations of; Natalie Wijesinghe (Apple Valley, Minn.) and Sarah Henderson (Prior Lake,Minn.), Hannah Zevenbergen (Baldwin, WI/ Baldwin-Woodville) and Molly Sanvik (Winona, Minn.), and Gabby Oswald (Watertown, Wis.) and Kylee Funk (Foley, Minn.) all took home decisive victories.
Wijesinghe and Henderson were victorious at number one doubles winning, 8-1. Zevenbergen and Sanvik defeated Kelly/Payton (MHB) 8-2, while Oswald and Funk won in straight sets 8-0.
The Blugolds continued their dominance to sweep through the singles matches as well. Playing in line one, Henderson won her match 6-4, 6-4. Molly Stewart (Amery, Wis.), Kendra Berry (Duluth, Minn.), and Emily Cooper (Whitebear, Minn.) were dominant at the two, three and four lines, respectively. Zevenbergen won in straight set 6-0, 6-0 at the five line, while Sanvik complete the sweep with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Cagle (MHB).
The Blugolds look to stay undefeated in Texas as they take on Concordia (TX) tomorrow at the Austin Tennis Center at 12:30pm.
