Women's Tennis Falls to UW-Whitewater

Eau Claire, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire women's tennis team hosted UW-Whitewater on September 16. The Blugolds were only able to steal one match from the Warhawks and fell 8-1. 

Results:

In the No. 1 singles matchup Natalie Wijesinghe (Apple Valley, Minn.) lost 3-6, 6-3, 10-6 to Talyansky (UWW). Sarah Henderson (Prior Lake, MN) was defeated 6-4, 6-3 by Martin (UWW) at the No.2 spot, while Molly Stewart (Amery, WI) fell to McGuire at the No.3 spot. Emily Cooper (White Bear, Minn.) and Molly Sanvik (Winona, Minn.) came up short at the No.4 and No.5 spots, respectively. Kendra Berry (Duluth, MN/East) lost her first singles match of the season falling 2-6, 6-1, 10-2 at the No.6 singles spot. 

The doubles team of Henderson and Wijesinghe earned the Blugolds only win of the day defeating McGuire/Wallace (UWW)  8-5. Stewart and Cooper fell in the No. 2 doubles match 8-6, while Sanvik and Hannah Zevenbergen (Baldwin, Wis.) were defeated 8-2 at No. 3 doubles. 

The Blugolds will compete next weekend at the United States Tennis Association/Intercollegiate Tennis Association Midwest Regional Championships at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minn.
