DULUTH, Minn. (Blugolds.com)- Friday afternoon the UW-Eau Claire women's tennis team swept the University of Minnesota Duluth 9-0.
In singles action Sarah Henderson (So. Prior Lake, Minn.) led the way with a 7-5, 6-1 win at number one singles. Olivia Gallagher (Jr. Lodi, Wis.) and Colleen McCullough (Sr. Maple Grove, Minn.) followed suite with 6-3, 6-1 and 6-2, 6-3 wins at number two and three singles respectively. Paige (Sr. Green Bay, Wis.) defeated Jillian Klasen (UMD) at number four singles, while Brooke Volpone (So. Monticello, Minn.) and Kendra Berry (Fr. Duluth, Minn) both victorious at number five and six singles.
The Blugolds number one doubles team of Henderson and McCullough defeated Benkofske/DeCorsey (UMD) 8-4. Gallagher and Kuepers won 8-3 at number two doubles and Molly Sanvik (Fr. Winona, Minn.) and Volpone completed the sweep with an 8-6 win at number three doubles.
The UW-Eau Claire women's team with this impressive win over division II University of Minnesota Duluth are now 14-6. The Blugolds are back in action Sunday April 24.
