WINONA, Minn. (Blugolds.com) – The women's tennis team drop a heart breaker to Luther Friday night, losing 5-4.
The Blugolds trailed 2-1 after doubles play withMolly Sanvik (Fr. Winona, Minn.) and Brooke Volpone (So. Monticello, Minn.) earning an 8-3 win at No. 3 doubles spoiling the Luther doubles sweep.
In singles action the Blugolds fought back splitting with Luther each winning three matches.Sarah Henderson (So. Prior Lake, Minn.) led the way at No.1 singles with a 6-4, 6-2 win. Olivia Gallagher (Jr. Lodi, Wis.) and Colleen McCullough (Sr. Maple Grove, Minn.) followed suite winning at No.2 and No.3 singles 6-1,6-3, and 6-1, 6-1, respectively. Luther was able to post narrow third set victories at No. 4 and No. 6 singles giving them the edge.
The Blugolds now 11-5 return to action at home Saturday April 9 against Simpson College (Iowa).
