Men's Tennis Takes Down Edgewood College

Middleton,Wis. (Blugolds.com)- The UW-Eau Claire men's tennis team extended their win streak to three in a row with a 9-0 sweep over Edgewood College on March 1.

The Blugolds got out to a dominant start in doubles action and never looked back. Evan Fridinger (Woodbury, Minn.) and Adam Burk (Forest Lake, Minn/ Totino Grace) set the tone with an 8-3 win at number one doubles, while Felipe Laporte (Curitiba, Brazil) and Ethan Grissom (Franklin, Wis.) earned an 8-2 victory at nubmer two doubles.   Daniel Schoen (Brookfield, Wis/ Central) and Tom Williams (Burnsville, Minn.) were credited the win by default at number three doubles. 

In singles action,  Zach Janssen (Green Bay, Wis./ Notre Dame) led the way with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Dornhagen S. Marius (EDW) at number one singles. Grant Mauthe (Neenah, Wis.) did not drop a set at the number two singles spot, while Matt Christensen (Rochester, Minn. /Century) won 6-2, 6-0 at number three singles. Daniel Schoen (Brookfield, Wis/ Central) made quick work at the number four sinlges slot,winning, 6-2, 6-0. Tom Williams (Burnsville, Minn.)  and Kole Kolinski (Kewaunee, Wis./Ashwaubenon) both earned wins by default at the number five and six slots, respectively. 

The Blugolds are now 8-2 overall and will take on Wheaton (Ill) at the Cherokee Club in Madison, WI at 3:00pm, tomorrow March 2.
