Men's Tennis Dominates St. Ambrose

Moline, Ill (Blugolds.com) The UW-Eau Claire men's tennis team swept St. Ambrose 9-0 at the Quad City Tennis Center on Feb. 3. With a win yesterday over Augustana the Blugolds improve to 2-0.

Results:

For the second day in a row the Blugolds won all three double matches to get out to a early lead. Andrew Dahl (Fort Atkinson, Wis.) and partner Daniel Schoen (Brookfield, Wis/ Central) won 8-5 at number one doubles. Zach Janssen (Green Bay, Wis. / Notre Dame) and Grant Mauthe (Neenah, Wis.) earned another victory at number two doubles, defeating Allee/Wheeler (STAM) 8-0.  Jackson Lindquist (Eau Claire, Wis. /North) and Evan Fridinger (Woodbury, Minn. /Eastridge) finished the doubles sweep with an 8-2 win at number three doubles. 

In singles action the Blugolds continued to dominate starting with Janssen defeated Greenwood (STAM) 6-0, 6-1 at the number one singles slot.  Renan Barros (Itajai, Santa Catarina, Brazil) won 6-0, 6-0 at the number two spot, while Mauthe got a win over Resnick (STAM) at number three singles. First year players; Fridinger and Adam Burk  (Forest Lake, Minn./ Totino Grace) both earned wins at the number four and five singles spots, respectively. Matt Gilbert (Minneapolis, Minn/Washburn) finished the sweep with a convincing win over Zuccato  (STAM), winning 6-1, 6-3.

The Blugolds now 2-0, will take on Bethany Lutheran on Feb. 9 at 6:00pm in Owatonna, Minn.
