Blugold Swim and Dive Dominates First Conference Meet

OSHKOSH, Wis. (blugolds.com)-- The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's and women's swimming and diving teams had their first competition of the year on the road against WIAC opponent UW-Oshkosh. Both the men's and women's teams had statement wins winning 193-38 and 185-45. 

The Blugolds took the first-place spot in 24 out of the 26 possible events today. Elaine Proefrock (So- Grafton, WI) placed first twice in the 1000-yard free (11:20.68) and in the 500 yard free (5:30.57).  

Two Blugolds had an impressive first meet setting records and making cuts. Kadin Denner set a pool record in the 1000 free with a time of 9:51.88. Diver Quincy Kabe (Jr.-Buffalo, MN) got NCAA diving zone cuts on both the 1M and 3M with a score of 315.30 on 1M and 321.52 on 3M. 

"I am really proud of how this team came out and raced and dove today. The first dual meet is always fun to see where we are as a team and what we need to work on going into another week of training." Stated Head Coach Annie Ryder about the Blugolds performance today at their first meet of the season.

The Blugolds will travel to UW-Stevens Point for a conference dual meet on Saturday, October 22nd with a 1 PM start.
