St. Cloud, Minn. (Blugolds.com)- The No. 21 ranked University of Wisconsin Eau Claire men's golf team finished third, while Nick Bauer (Sr.- Oshkosh, WI/North) finished 2nd overall.
Heading into Sunday the Blugolds' were tied for 6th with a team total 301. The Blugolds' shot a second round team total of 295 to move up three spots and were tied for third heading into the 3rd and final round. Eau Claire turned in a team total of 296 in the third round to finish in third place. The Blugolds finished just five strokes behind Gustavus Adolphus (MN) and eight strokes behind the invite champions St. Johns (MN).
The Blugolds' were led by Nick Bauer (Sr.- Oshkosh, WI/North) who finished second overall. The senior moved up 14 spots after yesterday's first round 74, today in both the second and third round he was one under and finished with a team low 70. Brady Thomas (Jr. – Middleton, WI) finished tied for 11th overall, moving up 7 spots between rounds two and three. Alex Rogan (Jr. – Lino Lakes, MN/Centennial) and teammate Cole Jahnke (Fr.- Stillwater, MN) finished the weekend tied for 22nd with a three-round total of 228. In addition, Jake Reckin (So. – Bellevue, NE) finished tied for 53rd.
The Blugolds will finish out regular season play on May 3rd and 4th at the Gustavus & St. Thomas triangular. The meet will be held at the Le Sueur Country Club with tee times set to start at 1:30pm both days.
