Men's Golf Finishes Seventh at Home Invite

ALTOONA, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire men's golf team finished in seventh place after two rounds of competition at the Frank Wrigglesworth Blugold Invitational at Eau Claire Golf & Country Club.

The Blugolds finished with 617 strokes, totaling 309 on day one and 308 on day two. Bethel University (Minn.) won the tournament with 581 strokes while Central College (Iowa) was second with 596 and the University of St. Thomas (Minn.) was third with 604.

Three Blugolds had the top finish on the team, all tying for 15th place with 151 strokes. The three top Blugolds were Brady Hanson (So.-Woodbury, Minn./East Ridge), Ryan Isaacson (Fr.-Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial) and Patrick Conroy (Fr.-Stillwater, Minn./Mahtomedi), who golfed as an individual.

Leading the Blugolds' second team, which came in 11th place with 635 strokes, was Andrew Schmidt (Jr.-Green Bay, Wis./Southwest) with 155 strokes, tied for 31st.

AJ Oster of Bethel took home medalist honors as he finished with 143 strokes (+1).

Next weekend the Blugolds will be at the Gustavus Adolphus College Twin Cities Classic. Day one of the three-day tournament will get underway Saturday at noon at the Links at Northfork in Ramsey, Minn.
