
EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - Six UW-Eau Claire Athletics teams were in action today, football and women's soccer at home while the rest were on the road.
Women's Tennis
UW-Eau Claire 9, UW-Stout 0
The women's tennis had little trouble taking down UW-Stout, beating the Blue Devils 9-0 on the UW-Stout Tennis Courts today. Sweeping singles play, four Blugolds dropped just three games on their way to winning in straight sets. The other two Blugolds dropped just four games. In doubles play, all three Blugold pairs won with scores of 8-1.
Women's Volleyball
UW-Eau Claire 3, Alma (Mich.) 1
University of Chicago (Ill.) 3, UW-Eau Claire 0
The volleyball team opened with a win on the final day of the Carthage College Tournament, but fell in the late match to complete the weekend with a 1-3 record. Eau Claire beat Alma College (Mich.) 3-1 to start the day and then lost 3-0 to the University of Chicago (Ill.). Against Alma, the Blugolds dropped the opening set 25-22 but recovered to win the next three, 25-14, 25-23, 25-22. Facing Chicago, the Maroons won with scores of 25-19, 26-24 and 25-20.
Women's Soccer
UW-Eau Claire 4, Gustavus Adolphus (Minn.) 1
Forward Tara Dennehy erupted for three goals as the women's soccer team won their second consecutive game defeating Gustavus Adolphus College 4-1 here today at the Bollinger Fields. Dennehy scored two goals in the opening half and added another in the second half.

Saint John's (Minn.) 31, UW-Eau Claire 7
Facing Saint John's University (Minn.) in its home-opener, the football team fell short to the Johnnies 31-7 at Carson Park tonight. Saint John's went up 31-0 and the Blugolds got their lone touchdown in the fourth quarter.

Women's Golf
Division III Midwest Classic - 4th of 15
The women's golf team is in fourth place out of 15 teams following round one of the Division III Classic, hosted by Carleton College (Minn.) at Jewel Golf Club. Eau Claire had 321 strokes today, 10 more than the leader St. Thomas (Minn.). Emily Stone led the Blugolds as she is currently tied for fourth with 78 strokes.
Men's Golf
Saint John's Fall Invitational - T-2nd of 18
The men's golf team is currently tied for second place out of 18 teams after round one of the Saint John's Fall Invitational. Eau Claire finished the first round with 304 strokes, tied with Saint John's, while Nebraska Wesleyan University leads the field with 302. Joey Dreier is the top Blugold so far, tied for third place with 73 strokes, one behind the leaders.
