EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - Six UW-Eau Claire Athletics teams were in action today.

Women's Swimming & Diving

With divers competing at UW-Eau Claire and swimmers competing at UW-Stevens Point, the UW-Eau Claire women's swimming & diving team faced UW-Stevens Point and St. Cloud State University today. The Blugolds recorded 10 finishes of third place or better, including three victories.

Men's Swimming & Diving

With divers competing at UW-Eau Claire and swimmers competing at UW-Stevens Point, the men's swimming & diving team faced UW-Stevens Point and St. Cloud State University today. The Blugolds recorded five finishes of third place or better, including one victory.

Women's Tennis

Women's tennis competed at day one of the WIAC Championship today. The initial day of competition at the conference event consisted of the first two rounds of doubles matches followed by the first round of singles matches.  The second day of the championship will feature the final two rounds of singles matches followed by the last round of doubles matches. Katie Gillman and Maddie Johnson advanced the furthest today, to the No. 1 doubles championship match, which will be contested Sunday.

Football

UW-Eau Claire 13, UW-River Falls 6

With both teams looking for their first win of the season today, the Blugold football team was able to come away with the win over UW-River Falls, defeating the Falcons 13-6 at Carson Park. Clint Larsen scored two touchdowns, both rushing, as he led the game with 120 yards on the ground.

Women's Soccer

UW-Eau Claire 2, UW-River Falls 1 (OT)

The women's soccer team picked up an important victory in the final regular season home game, winning 2-1 in overtime over UW-River Falls on Senior Day at Bollinger Field. With the teams tied at 1-1 after regulation, the game went to overtime to decide a winner. The Blugolds wasted little time ending it, when Caroline Henderson took a long pass from Tara Dennehy and put it past the Falcons' goalkeeper just 33 seconds into the extra frame.

Women's Volleyball

UW-Eau Claire 3, UW-Oshkosh 0 (25-20, 25-20, 25-22)

Coming into today's match, the volleyball team needed a win to finish second in the conference, and it did just that by beating UW-Oshkosh 3-0 at Kolf Sports Center. The Blugolds finished in second place for the second straight year, securing the No. 2 seed in the WIAC Championship and earning a first round bye. They will open the tournament Friday, Nov. 8 at 5 p.m. against a team to be determined at UW-Stevens Point.
