Dr. Rachel Kleis joined the Department of Kinesiology as an Assistant Professor in 2022. Dr. Kleis is responsible for teaching Biomechanics and courses in the Master of Science in Athletic Training Program including: Evidence Based Practice and Research, Athletic Training Lab & Practicum, and Physical Assessment and Treatment of the Spine.

Dr. Kleis completed her undergraduate education at Central College, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Athletic Training. She also attended the University of Kentucky and earned her Master of Science in Athletic Training and Doctor of Philosophy in Rehabilitation Sciences. Dr. Kleis is a Licensed Athletic Trainer in Wisconsin and a member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association. Her research interests include anterior cruciate ligament injury and reconstruction, physical activity behaviors after musculoskeletal injury, and psychology of sport and physical activity engagement.

Rachel, her husband Drew, and their two dogs reside in Eau Claire.
