Risen Named AVCA D3 Assistant Coach of the Year

LEXINGTON, KY. (blugolds.com) – The American Volleyball Coaches Association has announced Jodi Risen of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire volleyball team has been named AVCA Division III Assistant Coach of the Year.

Risen, a former Blugold volleyball athlete herself, is in her 13th year with the UWEC coaching staff and has helped Eau Claire reach over 300 wins while on staff.

"Jodi sets a tremendous example of servant leadership for our student-athletes. She goes above and beyond to help our team and each individual succeed on and off the court. Her positivity, competitiveness, and passion are second-to-none and are integral to the championship culture of Blugold Volleyball. Jodi is an exceptional coach, colleague and friend, and I am thrilled for her to receive this honor."

As a player, she led the team to a share of the WIAC Conference title in 2006 and to the Sweet Sixteen round of the NCAA tournament in 2005 and 2006. She was named to the WIAC All-Conference team in 2006.

Risen is the first Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Assistant Coach to receive the award since the award started in 2009.
