EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire volleyball team wrapped up their home quadrangular on Saturday with two wins at home. UW-Eau Claire swept Finlandia University 3-0 and soared past Illinois-Wesleyan University, 3-1, to complete a three-win weekend.

Game one featured an offensive clinic by the Blugolds after the squad posted a .403 swinging percentage for the game. Ava Aldag (So. – Neenah, WI) had a game high five kills in the opening set and a team high 12 successful attacks in the 3-0 sweep. In the first set, Eau Claire strung together a seven-point run to extend their lead to ten points before taking the 25-13 victory.
Set two and three faired in a similar way for Eau Claire as the Blugolds won both sets by a score of 25-14. Victoria Van Dan (Fr. – Burlington, WI) tallied a season high four service aces during the second set adding to the the team total of 17 aces.
In game two, the Blugolds forged their momentum into a 3-1 win over Illinois-Wesleyan.
Kendra Baierl (Sr. – Marshfield, WI/Columbus Catholic) led UWEC with 15 kills and 2.5 blocks through the four sets. Arianna Barrett (Sr. – Lakeville, MN/North) was not far behind as she tallied 14 kills herself.
On the defensive side, Taylor Scalia (Sr. – Lake Elmo, MN/Stillwater) led the defense with 16 kills.
With the Saturday wins, the No. 12 Blugolds improve to 22-3.
The Blugolds will be back on the road on Wednesday, October 20th as they face Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opponents, UW-Stout. First serve is set for 7 PM.
