ST. LOUIS, MO (blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's volleyball team wrapped up their final games of the Bear Invitational on Saturday. After winning both of their matches on Friday, the Blugolds continued their hot streak with 3-0 wins over Carroll College (WI) and Lewis & Clark College (OR).

UW-Eau Claire found themselves down early in the first set against Lewis & Clark, but would pull together an eleven-point rally for a 18-10 lead. Jordan Witzel (Jr. – Woodbury, MN/East Ridge) and Arianna Barrett (Sr. – Lakeville, MN/North) combined for five successful attacks in that run to gain the lead. Hannah Flottmeyer (Jr. – Madison, WI/Middleton) closed out the 25-17 set win with a successful attack of her own.

The defense stepped up again tallying 12 blocks in the first matchup. Abby Volk (Sr. – Willmar, MN) led the way with four block assists and one solo block.

Kelly Page (Fr. – Merrill, WI) started her first game as a Blugold and earned a career high 20 assists against the Pioneers from Oregon.

Sets two and three saw much of the same play as Eau Claire would trail early but would come back strong with big rallies to close the final two frames out, 25-14 and 25-16.

In game two, the Blugolds struck early and often. Mackenzie Bachmann (Sr. – Chaska, MN) led the squad with 14 kills and 15 points in UWEC's 3-0 sweep (25-15, 25-12, 25-17) of Carroll College. The largest lead of the day was up to 14, with help of four Bachmann kills and some team errors on the Pioneers.

Jordan Witzel was named to the All-Tournament team. Her busy weekend included 36 successful attacks, 39 points, and a swing rate of 41%.

The Blugolds will return to the road on Wednesday as they travel to AVCA.org preseason #18 ranked Saint Benedict (MN). First serve is scheduled for 7 PM at Claire Lynch Hall in St. Joseph, MN.
