LA CROSSE, Wis (blugolds.com) - In the final tune-up meet before the National Championships next week, the UW-Eau Claire track and field athletes competed in the UW-L Final Qualifier in La Crosse, Wis and the Augustana College Twilight qualifier in Rock Island, Ill.
In La Crosse, senior Megan Best improved upon her season best in the 100m dash with a time of 11.92s. This time will likely qualify her for the National Championship meet next week. Defending Shot Put National Champion, Catie Fobbe, also achieved a personal best with a toss of 14.89m. This mark will place her in the top 5 nationally going into next week's championship. In his final meet of his Blugold career, Brandon Roberts finished with a personal best in the Hammer Throw with a heave of 55.47m. Roberts finished right behind teammate Yakob Ekoue who will compete in all three throwing events next week at the National Championships. Sophomore Taylor Phillips ended his season with a personal best in the 110m Hurdles, with a time that places him seventh in school history, 14.88s.
