Track & Field Competes at Day One of NCAA Outdoor Championships

GREENSBORO, NC (blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's and women's track & field teams competed at day one of the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

Day 1 Results

The Blugolds started with Jordan Lacey (Sr. – Greenville, WI/St. Mary Central) taking first place in the men's decathlon 100m race. Mitch Stegeman (So. – Coleman, WI/Suring) took fifth in the race with a time of 11.02. Chris Anderson (Sr. – Sister Bay, WI/Gilbraltar) took home 4th place and All-American honors in the men's discus with a throw of 48.81m. Marcus Weaver (So. – Lewiston, MN/Lewiston-Altura) and Abrahm Schroedl (Sr. – De Forest, WI) got their decathlon days started with top-5 finishes in the Long Jump. Weaver placed third and Schroedl took fifth.

Weaver then took the top spot in the shot put with a throw of 14.18m. He then finished first in the high jump with a height of 2.00m. Stegeman and Schroedl tied for third with a height of 1.94m.

Weaver currently sits atop the decathlon leaderboard with 3848 points after five events. Stegeman is currently sixth and Lacey is in 7th.

Megan Wallace (Sr. – Burlington, WI) placed first in the heptathlon's shot put with distance of 12.40m. Wallace currently sits in third place in the heptathlon with 3124 points. She is only 97 pints behind the leader and 41 points behind second place.

UW-Eau Claire's women's 4x100m relay squad qualified for finals with a 4th place time of 47.35 in the prelims. Megan Best - (So. - Oshkosh, WI/West), Kady Kochendorfer – (Jr. – Hudson, WI), Gianna Kornaus – (Fr. – Oneida, WI/Pulaski), and Logan Fahey – (Sr. – Belleville, WI) will race in the finals on Saturday at 12:05 pm.

The men's 4x100m relay of Arik Skifstad (Jr. – Eau Claire, WI/North), EJ Kruse (Fr. – Appleton, WI/Kimberly), Stefan Klechefski (Fr. – Roberts, WI/River Falls), and Hunter Henk (Sr. – Beldenville, WI/River Falls) qualified for their own finals on Saturday with a time of 41.07.

The Blugolds will compete in day two on Friday, May 28th. Events start at 10 am with the 110m hurdles. Check out the full day of events here.
