LA CROSSE, Wis. (blugolds.com) - The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's and women's outdoor track & field squads continued their 2021 season on Friday with athletes competing at the UW-La Crosse Last Chance Meet and the North Central College Dr. Keeler Invitational. After a successful championship, a week prior, the Blugolds continued their performances with top three placements throughout the day.

In La Crosse, Evan Weber (So. - Holmen, WI/Aquinas), Matthew Miller (So. - Lake Elmo, MN/Stillwater), Stefan Klechefski (Fr. – Roberts, WI/River Falls), and Hunter Henk (Sr. – Beldenville, WI/River Falls) placed first in the 4x100 with a time of 41.97. Glory Hecker (Sr. - Stone Lake, WI/Hayward Center) also earned a top spot with her time of 57.38 in the 400m. Jordan Lijewski (_) took second place in the 400m with a career best 48.89.
In the 100m finals, Megan Best (So. - Oshkosh, WI/West) placed third out of 10 athletes with a posted time of 12.33. For the men's 100m, Evan Weber also came in third at 10.91.
Kylie Judd (So. - Anchorage, AK/AJ Diamond) placed first in the 5000m race with a posted finish of 18:58.76. Dan Lau also finished first in the 5000m with a time of 15:20.85.
The 800m races finished with one Blugold in the top three in both races. Mikayla Hady (Fr. - Mount Auburn, IL/Sacred Heart-Griffin) and Sam Verkerke (Fr. - White Bear Lake, MN) both finished in third place. Hady ran a time of 2:13.83 and Verkerke finished with a 1:57.71.
UWEC dominated the 200m dashes with Arik Skifstad (Jr. - Eau Claire, WI/North) and Hunter Henk placed first and second respectively in the men's final. Kady Kochendorfer (Jr. - Hudson, WI) picked up a third-place finish with her time of 25.01.
Carolyn Shult (So. - Augusta, WI) took home top honors in the 1500m race with a personal record of 4:41.66. Jake Petri (Sr. - Cottage Grove, MN/East Ridge) finished his 1500m race with a time of 3:53.57 and a third-place finish. Hannah Lamack (Sr. - Kewaunee, WI) earned a personal record time of 11:25.59 and first place finish in the 3000m steeplechase. Ashley Kachurik (So. - Wadsworth, IL/Wadsworth Township) placed right behind Lamack at 11:52.79.
In the field events, Mitch Stegeman placed second with a personal record 5.01m in the pole vault. Yakob Ekoue (So. - Hopkins, MN) also set a career milestone in the discus with a 50.43m throw and a second place finish.
At the Dr. Keeler Invite, Emma Drangsveit (Sr. - Lakeville, MN/North) recorded a personal best 3000m steeplechase time of 11:00.97. Drangsveit's 3rd place finish was the only recorded placement in the meet.
The Blugold athletes will be back at UW-La Crosse for the Meet #2 of the Last Chance meet on Thursday, May 20th.
