Wallace Selected As Judy Kruckman Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Scholar-Athlete

MADISON, Wis.--University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's Megan Wallace has been selected recipient of the 2021 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Judy Kruckman Women's Outdoor Track & Field Scholar-Athlete Award.

A senior from Burlington, Wis. (Burlington), Wallace is majoring in communication sciences & disorders with a minor in Spanish and certificate in American sign language. She maintains a 3.67 grade point average is a three-time U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic selection and three-time member of the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll. Wallace has been recognized on UW-Eau Claire's Dean's List numerous semesters. 

Wallace is a three-time conference champion, winning the javelin this season after securing the heptathlon in 2018 and 2019. She claimed WIAC Field Performer of the Meet accolades at the WIAC outdoor championship in 2019. Wallace is a two-time All-American in the heptathlon with a third-place finish at the national championship in 2019, after placing eighth in 2018. She claimed All-Midwest Region recognition in the heptathlon and 4x400-meter relay in 2018, and the heptathlon in 2019. Earlier this season, she established a NCAA Division III record with 5,471 points in the heptathlon, breaking a mark that was set in 1992. Wallace was a team captain for the 2019 season and selected UW-Eau Claire's Newcomer of the Year in 2018. 

She is a member of Athletes in Action and has volunteered for high school track & field meets. 

The WIAC Scholar-Athlete Award is named after Judy Kruckman who served as Assistant Commissioner for the WIAC from 1996-98. Prior to this appointment, she was Commissioner of the Wisconsin Women's Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WWIAC) from October, 1984 - September, 1996. Kruckman was the women's athletics director at UW-Eau Claire from 1974-84, and one of the original representatives to the WWIAC when it formed in 1971. She was inducted into the WIAC Hall of Fame in 2012.

In order to be nominated for the scholar-athlete award, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.50 grade point average. In addition, she must be in her last year of competition, or on schedule to graduate this academic year, and have competed for a minimum of two years. The award is based on academic achievements, athletics accomplishments and involvement in other campus activities, organizations and community service projects.
