Women's Tennis Falls Twice at WIAC Team Tournament

WHITEWATER, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire women's tennis team had a tough time at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Team Tournament as it fell twice at the Wangerin Courts today.

In the first competition of the day against UW-La Crosse, the Blugolds didn't win any matches as the Eagles took a 5-0 victory.

Later in the day in the third place competition against UW-Oshkosh, the Blugolds picked up two victories but the Titans won overall 5-2.

Lexi DeMario (Fr.-Verona, Wis./Verona Area) had a 6-2, 6-1 No. 5 singles victory while her and partner Karlie Day (Fr.-Lakeville, Minn./South) won the No. 3 doubles match 8-3.

UW-Whitewater, 21-5, earned the league's automatic berth in the NCAA III championship tournament, the fourth straight for the Warhawks, after beating UW-La Crosse 8-1 in the championship.

The Blugolds end their season with a 12-9 overall record.
