Blugolds Place Third at the Warhawk Invitational

WHITEWATER, Wis. (blugolds.com) The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's tennis team competed in the Warhawk Invitational this afternoon at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. The Blugolds placed third overall scoring 34 points.

Results

The UW-Eau Claire women's tennis team had a successful day at the Warhawk Invitational with multiple players winning and advancing to championship rounds. Anna Lee (Fr.-Buffalo, MN) lost her first match in two singles, but held strong and secured the consolation match 8-0 against UW-La Crosse's Schmiessing. Taking second place in three singles, Olivia Herzog (Fr.-Owatonna, MN) dominated her first two matches to make it to the championship where she was defeated by UW-Whitewaters Faith Nosek. 

UW-Eau Claire's Clare Palen (Jr.-Rochester,MN/Lourdes) and Samantha Fuchs (So.-DeForest,WI) powered through their one doubles matches beating Bruno and Lee of Whitewater 8-4 to win the championship match. The Blugolds had two third place finishes with Morgan Dekan (So.-Altoona, WI) and Syd Pressler (Sr.-Eau Claire, WI/Altoona) in two doubles and Tea Armstrong (So.-Blue Earth, MN) and Sophia Geske (So.- Rochester, MN) in three doubles. 

The Blugolds placed third out of sevens teams competing at the Invitational. UW-Eau Claire will have their first home competition of the season Saturday, September 10th against UW-Stevens Point. Follow the Blugolds all season long at Blugold Game Day or on our app, UWEC Blugolds.
