OSHKOSH, Wis. (blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's tennis team was back on the road for their final regular season Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference dual of the season. UW-Eau Claire took on the UW-Oshkosh Titans and finished their regular season strong with a 9-0 sweep.
Clare Palen (So. – Rochester, MN/Lourdes) and Samantha Fuchs (Fr. – DeForest, WI) continued their success at No. 1 doubles with an 8-2 victory over Jenna Nolde (UWO) and Michelle Spicer (UWO). Sophie Geske (Fr. – Rochester, MN/John Marshall) and Madison Magnani (So. – Eden Prairie, MN) earned themselves an 8-0 victory at No. 3 doubles to keep UWEC perfect on the day.
In singles' action, the Blugold momentum was strong as Morgan Dekan (Fr. – Altoona, WI), Elena Bourget (Fr. – Eau Claire, WI/Regis), and Téa Armstrong (Fr. – Blue Earth, MN) all defeated their opponents 6-0, 6-0 in singles 3-5.
Alexa Brooks (Sr. – Beaver Dam, WI) and Fuchs were the only Blugolds playing in both sessions and both players were 2-0 on the day.
The Blugolds finish the WIAC regular season with a conference record of 5-1 and take sole ownership of second place in the standings. They will head to Madison, WI next weekend for the WIAC Championships. First round begins on Saturday, October 23rd with the full schedule to be released in the coming days.
