WHITEWATER, Wis. (blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's tennis team participated in the 2021 ITA Regional tournament this past weekend. Lindsey Henderson (Sr. – Prior Lake, MN) and Elaine Franta (Jr. – White Bear Lake, MN) led the way for the UW-Eau Claire Blugolds, placing second in the ITA Doubles tournament.

Henderson and Franta earned their spot in the finals after taking down the number 6^th seed doubles pair Kelsey Dorr and Sofia Walker from St. Kate's, 8-5.

In the finals, the 5^th ranked Blugold pairing fell short to the 9^th seeded Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) foes from UW-Whitewater, Autumn Bruno and Cassie Lee (6-3, 6-3). The duo earned their spot for the ITA Cup taking place from Oct. 14-17 in Rome, GA. A win in the ITA cup will grant them All-America honors.

The Blugolds did have one champion on the weekend as Samantha Fuchs (Fr. – DeForest, WI) won the Consolation Singles B bracket in four matches. Fuchs won 32 games, only surrendering six to her opponents, in the four matches of bracket play.

The Blugolds will be back at home on Wednesday, September 29^th when they host UW-Stout at the Olson Outdoor Tennis Courts. First serve is scheduled for 3 PM.
