EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (blugolds.com) - The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's tennis was back on the court on Friday for a nonconference matchup against the University of St. Thomas (Minn.). With two matches decided by less than two sets, the Blugolds would fall to the Tommies, 0-9.
At No. 1 doubles, Lindsey Henderson (Jr.-Prior Lake, MN) and Elaine Franta (So.-White Bear Lake, MN) lost a close 8-7 match against Jannah El Nemr (UST) and Nicole Snezhko (UST). Alexa Brooks (Jr.-Beaver Dam, WI) and Emily Cooper (Sr.-White Bear Lake, MN/Mahtomedi) also fell in their match at No. 2 doubles, 8-4.
Brooks battled for a comeback in her No. 4 singles match forcing a tiebreaker, but was defeated 5-7, 7-5, 7-10. Morgan Nelson (Fr.-Beaver Dam, WI) also lost a competitive match dropping two games at No. 5 singles, 6-4, 6-1.
The Blugolds are back in action on Saturday when they host UW-Stevens Point at the McPhee Physical Education Center Outdoor courts.
