Bylander Earns All-American Status at NCAA Nationals

INDIANAPOLIS, IN (blugolds.com) This week the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's men and women's diving teams competed at NCAA Nationals at the IUPUI Natatorium.

This week the Blugolds sent seven members of the Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving team to NCAA Nationals. The Blugolds will return with an All-American and an All-American Honorable Mention relay team.

Michael Bylander (Sr.- Baxter, MN/Brainerd) has earned the title of WIAC Men's Swimmer of the Year, WIAC Scholar Athlete, and now All-American. In the first day of competition Bylander placed 6th in the 200 IM with a time of 1:48.90, that time would give Bylander the title of All-American. Friday, Bylander earned All-American Status again by placing 7th in the 100-Yard breaststroke with a time of 54.31. To end NCAA Nationals, Michael placed 2nd in the 200-Yard breaststroke with a time of 1:56.81 which breaks a school record and gives him a place on the podium.

The 200-Relay team consisting of Michael Bylander, Ian Olson (So.- Chippewa Falls, WI), Hans Hover (Sr.- Shakopee, MN), and Alex Jorgenson (So. Winona, MN) placed 13th with a time of 1:29.68 which earns them All-American Honorable mention. The Blugolds who traveled and competed at Nationals all had outstanding performances.
