MADISON, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - UW-Eau Claire women's swimmer Nicole Dorvinen (Jr.-Green Bay, Wis./Bay Port) and men's diver Nick Badilla (So.-Appleton, Wis./North) have been named Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Athletes of the Week, Assistant Commissioner for Media Relations Matt Stanek announced today.
Facing UW-Stevens Point and St. Cloud State University on Saturday, Dorvinen took first in both the 500 and 1,000-yard freestyle events, with respective times of 5:18.33 and 10:53.83. She also grabbed the victory in the 200-yard butterfly competition with a winning time of 2:11.75.
Against UW-Stevens Point and St. Cloud State University on Saturday, Badilla scored a runner-up finish in the one-meter dive with a score of 264.40while he earned a third place finish in the three-meter diving competition with a final number of 277.30. He missed national cuts by just 11 and 13 points on the one and three-meter boards.
