Women's Soccer Falls to Norse on the Road

DECORAH, IA. (blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's soccer team was away from Simpson Field for their game against Luther College. Although they led in total shots for the game, the UW-Eau Claire Blugolds fell to the Luther College Norse, 0-1.

Tough defense was the story of the match with two yellow card sightings given out to both Megan Rasmussen of Luther at 35:35 and Amanda Iverson (Fr. – La Crescent, MN/La Crescent-Hokah) at 78:51.

With the score deadlocked at zero in the first half, Maggie Haller of Luther College tapped in a goal at 56:58 of the second half to break the tie.

The 0-1 deficit would stand for the final 33 minutes as the Blugolds were unable to answer with a goal of their own.

Anna Sveiven (Sr. Blaine, MN/Centennial) and Kennedy Boll (Fr. Franklin, WI/Franklin) both played 45 minutes each with Sveiven leading the duo with five saves in the 0-1 loss.

The Blugolds be back home this Saturday, October 2nd when they take on Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) opponent UW-Oshkosh at Simpson Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 PM.
