Women's Soccer Bounces Back with 3-1 Home Victory

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's soccer team hosted the Simpson College Storm on Saturday afternoon. In a much-needed bounce back win, Anna Kautzman (Sr. – Champlin, MN) recorded two assists in UWEC's 3-1 victory at home.

It took Hannah Schaetzel (Sr. – Germantown, WI) ten minutes to find the first tally of the game. With the ball at the top of the 18-yard box, Schaetzel took an instinctive shot on net and beat the Simpson goalkeeper for the 1-0 lead. Simpson College answered in the 42 minute to tie the game at one going into halftime.

Eau Claire came started another the second half strong by earning a free kick right outside the box in the first 7 minutes. Maggie Mueller (So. – Sheboygan, WI/North stepped up and netted her first goal as a Blugold from about 30-yards out to extend the lead to 2-1.

Emma Stange (Sr. – Andover, MN/Anoka) sealed the deal for UWEC in the 80th minute with her second goal of the year and the final goal of the afternoon.

Anna Sveiven (Sr. – Blake, MN/Centennial) stopped two of the three shots on goal she faced in the first half. Kennedy Boll (Fr. – Franklin, WI) was credited with her shutout play in the second half. Boll now holds a record of (2-0-1) on the season.

The Blugolds will have a quick turn around as the host St. Norbert College tomorrow, Sunday, September 19th at Simpson Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 3 PM.
