Ten Blugolds Named 2022 NWCA Division III Scholar All-Americans

MANHEIM, PA (blugolds.com) - On Friday, the NWCA announced the full slate of 2021-2022 Scholar All-America Team and Individual honorees for NCAA Division III with awards going to 325 individuals representing 87 institutions. The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire wrestling team tied for the second most athletes earning honors as ten Blugold athletes were named 2022 NWCA Division III Scholar All-Americans.

Of the ten Blugolds earning the Scholar All-American award for their hard work on the mats and in the classroom, seven of them have earned this honor before. Chase Melton (So. - Spooner, WI), Evan Lawrence (Sr. - Hugo, MN/Mahtomedi), Jack Marley (Jr. - Trempealeau, WI/Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau), and Tristan Massie (So. - Hillsdale, WI/Baron) all earned the honors for a third time in their career, while Jake Drexler (Jr. - Stratford, WI), Chase Schmidt (Sr. - Rice Lake, WI), and Sam Melton (So. - Shell Lake, WI/Spooner) all earned it for the second time as Blugolds. Jake Matthews (Fr. - Addison Trail, IL) and Connor Collins (So. - Oshkosh, WI/West) were both first time awards winners.
