MADISON, Wis. (blugolds.com) --University of Whitewater's Jaritt Shinhoster has been selected the 2022 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Wrestler of the Year, while UW-Eau Claire's Jared Stricker (Fr. - Ashland, WI) has been tabbed the Newcomer of the Year based on voting conducted by the league coaches.
Stricker secured the 174-pound title at the WIAC championship. He finished third at the NCAA Division III Upper Midwest Regional and advanced to the NCAA Division III championship. Stricker compiled a 43-11 record with 18 pins. A Newcomer of the Year is defined as a student-athlete who used his first season of participation in wrestling this season. Transfers are not eligible unless they didn't participate in wrestling at their previous institution.
