MOUNT VERNON, Iowa (Blugolds.com) – Eight UW-Eau Claire wrestlers were in action Saturday at the 2012 Matman Invitational, hosted by Cornell College (Iowa).
The Blugolds combined to score 16.5 points to take 14th place at the 14-team invite. Coe College (Iowa) won with 153 while Cornell was second with 117.
Mat Rieckhoff (So.-Wausau, Wis./D.C. Everest) came away from the invite with the best record for Eau Claire as he went 3-2. He opened with two wins, an 8-1 decision and a 12-0 major decision before falling 6-3 to Coe's Ethan Ball. Rieckhoff then won once more, a 7-3 decision, before falling 9-3 in his final match of the day.
