Women's Lacrosse Powers Past Sabres At Home

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (blugolds.com) - The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's lacrosse team defeated Marian (Wis.) on Sunday afternoon, 21-6.

Eau Claire built a dominant lead quickly against the Sabres, scoring the first nine goals of the game. The first four came from Riley Domagala (Fr.-Bloomington, MN/Jefferson), with Kelli Cole (Jr.-Eden Prairie, MN/Minnetonka), Kylah Krause (So.-Belleville, IL/East), and Maggie Philippi (So.-White Bear Lake, MN) also getting in the scoring column.

The Blugolds would extend their lead to 15-3 by the halftime break. The final goal of the half would come from Emmalyn Tritschler (Fr.-Eagan, MN/Eastview).

Sheridan Larson (Fr.-Apple Valley, MN) kicked off the second half with a goal, the assist coming from Jessica Borer (Jr.-St. Michael, MN).

Eau Claire added six more goals in the second half to come away with the resounding 21-6 victory. They built an advantage in nearly every major statistical category, including shots (41-14), ground balls (18-11) and draw controls (10-4).

Domagala and Krause would finish as the top goal-scorers, each scoring four. Larson and Cole also made their presence felt, with three goals apiece. In goal, Stephanie Martin (Jr.-Yorktown, VA/Tabb) got the start and recorded five saves.

The win moves UWEC to 4-2 on the 2021 season. Due to COVID-19 protocols, the next two games for the Blugolds were cancelled. They will take the field next on Saturday, April 24th against UW-La Crosse.
