Women's Lacrosse Earns First Home Win

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (blugolds.com) - The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's lacrosse team defeated Augsburg (Minn.) Saturday night, 14-11.

While Augsburg scored the first three goals of the game, Eau Claire fought back, with the score tied at half, 5-5. Goals came from Jessica Borer (Jr.-St. Michael, MN), Riley Domagala (Fr.-Bloomington, MN/Jefferson), Kelli Cole (Jr.-Eden Prairie, MN/Minnetonka) and Lilia Pugh (Jr.-Stillwater, MN/St. Croix Prep).

Cole began the scoring in the second half for the Blugolds, scoring within the first six minutes. The Auggies hung around, but a trio of goals from UWEC with 12 minutes remaining proved to be the difference.

Eau Claire scored nine goals in the second half to win 14-11. Pugh scored off an assist from Borer to cap off the scoring.

Borer led all players with five goals in the game while Domagala, Pugh and Cole all posted two each. In goal, Bryanna Brost (So.-New London, WI) recorded eight saves.

The relentless Blugold attack compiled 38 total shots. They also built an advantage on ground balls, 31-28.

The win moves the Blugolds to 3-1 on the 2021 season. Next up, Eau Claire will welcome Concordia Wisconsin to their home field this Tuesday at 7 PM.
