FOND DU LAC, Wis. (blugolds.com) - The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's lacrosse team defeated Marian (Wis.) Friday night, 20-10.
Lilia Pugh (Jr.-Stillwater, MN/St. Croix Prep) opened up the scoring for the Blugolds, as they scored nine goals in the period to take an initial 9-5 lead. Riley Domagala (Fr.-Bloomington, MN/Jefferson) scored the final goal of the half off an assist from Sheridan Larson (Jr.-Apple Valley, MN).
Eau Claire extended their lead in the second half, as Kelli Cole (Jr.-Eden Prairie, MN/Minnetonka) scored within the first two minutes. The Blugolds scored ten more goals in the half to come away with the 20-10 victory.
Domagala led the way with six goals on the night, while Hallie Oberg (So.-Woodbury, MN) had four and Larson and Pugh had three. In goal, Bryanna Brost (So.-New London, WI) recorded six saves.
Eau Claire outshot Marian 45-24 and also forced 26 turnovers. Aside from a tie at 1-1, the Blugolds held the advantage the entire way.
The win moves Eau Claire to 2-1 on the 2021 season. They will return to their home field next Saturday against Augsburg (Minn.) on March 20. Follow the action on Blugold Game Day.
