EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's hockey team hosted St. Norbert College for game one of two of the weekend. #3 ranked Eau Claire took down St. Norbert with a 6 to 1 victory.
Eau Claire wasted no time getting on the board early with a goal from Addie Young (Sr.-Superior, WI/Superior) with an assist from Bree Osborne (Sr.-West St. Paul,MN/Cretin-Derham Hall) at 2:51. The Blugolds would maintain control in the first period outshooting the Green Knights 17 to 7 going into the second period.
The Blugolds came out in the second period ready to play. Hallie Sheridan (Jr.-Fergus Falls, MN/Fergus Falls) would start off the scoring in the period with a breakaway goal at 4:11. Three minutes later Young would score her second goal of the night at 7:26 bringing the Blugolds lead to 3 to 0. St. Nobert would answer back with their first goal at 9:05 bringing the Blugold lead to 3-1. UWEC would end the period with 36 shots to the Green Knights 9 shots.
In the final period Eau Claire would maintain the majority of possession, which would pay off for their fourth goal of the night. The unassisted goal would come from Emily Hart (Jr.-Red Wing, MN/Red Wing) at 3:25. Eau Claire would continue their scoring in the third period with a goal from Samantha Bandholz (Fr.-Richfield, WI/Slinger High School) with her first goal of the season at 11:36. The Blugolds would add a powerplay goal to their tally of goals for the night from Emma Peterson (Sr.-Superior, WI/Superior) at 14:44 in the third period. Eau Claire would outshoot St. Norbert 49 to 15.
Stephanie Martin (Sr.- Yorktown, VA/Tabb) would save 14 of the 15 shots she faced in net and is now 11-1-0 on the season.
The Blugolds (14-1, WIAC 3-0) will return to Hobbs Municipal Ice Center against St. Nobert College on Saturday, December 8th for game two of the weekend for a 7PM puck drop.
