Sheridan powers No. 2 Blugolds to 12th win of the season

MOORHEAD, Minn. (blugolds.com) – Hallie Sheridan (Jr. - Fergus Falls, MN) led the No. 2 University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's hockey team to their 12th win of the season Saturday after recording her first career hat trick in a 4-1 win over Concordia-Moorhead.

Sheridan struck first with an unassisted goal to open the game, then late in the first put home a power play goal off assists from Dehli Heikes (Jr. – Hermantown, MN) and Sydney Johnson (So. – Apple Valley, MN).

After a scoreless second, Concordia scored their lone goal at 4:08 of the third period. Hattie Verstegen (So. - Oshkosh, WI/North) responded with a goal at 9:10, with Peyton Rose Norman (Fr. – Yorkville, IL) earning the assist.

Sheridan would seal the win with an empty net goal with just under 30 seconds to play.

Eau Claire held a 35-25 advantage in shots and won 34 of 63 faceoffs.

Netminder Stephanie Martin (Sr.- Yorktown, VA/Tabb) earned her ninth win in net, recording 24 saves and moves to 9-1-0 on the season.

Eau Claire (12-1-0, 3-0-0 WIAC) will take a break until January, traveling to Saint Mary's University (MN) on New Year's Day for a 2 p.m. start.
