Women's Hockey picks up 10th win in overtime

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (blugolds.com) – The No. 3 University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's hockey team returned to Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse for game two against Lake Forest College on Saturday, Eau Claire taking home a 1-0 overtime victory.

Lake Forest would start the first period coming out in force, scoring early in the first period, forcing Eau Claire to have to answer back. The Foresters would end the first period with the 1-0 lead.

The second period would continue with the Blugolds trailing by one and fighting to get out of the one goal deficient. The Foresters would keep the lead going into the third period.

Eau Claire would come out in the final period bringing out a strong offense. It would pay off with Addie Young (Sr.-Superior, WI) scoring powerplay goal at 13:22 with assists from Bree Osborne (Sr.-West St. Paul,MN/Cretin-Derham Hall) and Emily Hart (Jr.-Red Wing, MN).

The Blugolds would score at 3:58 in overtime with a powerplay goal from Hanna Zavoral (Sr.-St. Paul, MN/Highland Park) and a second assist for Osborne. Emma Peterson (Sr.-Superior, WI) would also tally an assist on the goal.

The Blugolds out-shot Lake Forest 45 to 17 and were 2 for 11 on the powerplay while shutting down all three powerplays for the home squad.

Stephanie Martin (Sr.- Yorktown, VA/Tabb) would save 16 out of 17 shots she faced.

Eau Claire (10-0-0, 3-0-0) stays on the road for a matchup against Hamline University (Minn.) on Tuesday, December 7th for a 7 PM puck drop.
