Sheridan's late goal lifts No. 3 Blugolds over Lake Forest

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (blugolds.com) – The No. 3 University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's hockey team traveled to Lake Forest College for game one of two over the weekend. Eau Claire would come out of the first game with a hard fought 1-0 victory.

Eau Claire would come out in the first period maintaining the majority of possession over Lake Forest and putting the pressure on them early on. Both teams would come up short in scoring opportunities and would end the period scoreless.

 The second period would mirror the first with both teams tallying up scoring chances, but neither were successful in those opportunities leaving the score even at zero going into the third period. 

With an action packed period, the Blugolds would put the pressure on the Foresters to score the first goal. Eau Claire's Hallie Sheridan (Jr.-Fergus Falls, MN) would finally break the tie at 19:35 with an assist from Hattie Verstegen (So. - Oshkosh, WI/North) and Danielle Slominski (Jr. – Becker, MN/Princeton), giving the Blugolds the 1-0 win.

Stephanie Martin (Sr.- Yorktown, VA/Tabb) would end the night with 22 saves, her sixth win in net, and the teams fourth shutout.

Eau Claire (9-0-0, 3-0-0) returns to Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse for game two against Lake Forest on Saturday; puck drop is scheduled for 4 PM.
