Zavoral records hat trick as No. 3 Blugolds defeat Superior

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (blugolds.com) – The No. 3 University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's hockey hosted UW-Superior on Saturday and secured their second WIAC win in as many games, led by Hanna Zavoral's (Sr.- St. Paul, MN/Highland Park) hat trick.

Box Score

After scoring two goals in Thursday's 10-0 win over Northland, Zavoral picked up where she left off, putting Eau Claire on the board midway through the first period thanks to assists from Bree Osborne (Sr.- West St. Paul, MN/Cretin-Derham Hall) and Emma Peterson (Sr. - Superior, WI) on the powerplay.

She would light the lamp again at the 4:45 mark of the second, this time getting an assist from Danielle Slominski (Jr. – Becker, MN/Princeton). Just minutes later, she would tally a hat trick with an assist from Emily Hart (Jr. – Red Wing, MN).

Superior would get on the board with five minutes to go in the second period but that would end the scoring for the afternoon as the Blugolds would record the 3-1 victory. Eau Claire would out-shoot the Yellowjackets 31-14.

Stephanie Martin (Sr.- Yorktown, VA/Tabb) earned the win in goal with 13 saves and moves to 3-0-0 on the season.

Eau Claire (6-0-0, 2-0-0 WIAC) will be back in action next Saturday as they host No. 4 UW-River Falls at 2 p.m.
