EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – It was a battle to the final buzzer as University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire fell to University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point 3-2 on Saturday night at Hobbs Ice Center.

Box Score

The first period started off with back to back shots for both sides of the ice. Eau Claire was first to find the back of the net in the second period as Danielle Lucker (Fr.- Little Canada, Minn.) fired a shot past the Pointer's net at 5:23 with an assist by Paige Sedlar (Sr.-Wausau, Wis.). Stevens Point returned the favor and slipped the puck past the Blugold net to end the period 2-1 in favor of the Pointers.

Point found their next tally on the board during a 4 on 4 power play at 4:31 into the third period. Eau Claire wasn't done fighting and fired another goal into the Pointers' net with just 42 seconds left in the game off the stick of Monica Sjodin (Fr.-Anoka, Minn.) The Blugolds' fight wasn't quite enough to tie up the game and the Pointers skated away with a 3-2 win.

Paige Turner (Iron River, WI/Duluth East) held strong for the Blugolds and saved 34 shots for Eau Claire.

Eau Claire (9-9-4, 2-5-2) faces off against Stevens Point (12-7-2, 4-3-2) next weekend for another WIAC match-up.
