EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire women's hockey team picked up a 2-0 win over the Concordia University (Wis.) Falcons at the Ozaukee Ice Center tonight.
The Blugolds used two quick goals in the second period to get past Concordia.
Toni Simones (Sr.-Rosemount, Minn./South St. Paul) scored the eventual game-winner at 5:45 in the second period with an assist from Emily Larson (So.-Bemidji, Minn.).
Only 17 seconds later, Casey McMullen (Jr.-Minneapolis, Minn./South) recorded an unassisted goal to give the Blugolds a two-goal advantage.
The teams shot nearly even for the night but Concordia edged the Blugolds narrowly, 29-27. Eau Claire finished with the second period advantage 13-8 while Concordia led the shot chart 12-7 in the final period.
Morgan Pieper (Sr.-Williams, Minn./Warroad) picked up the win in-goal for Eau Claire as she saved all 29 Falcon shots.
Eau Claire is now 6-11-3 on the season and 5-8-2 in the conference. Concordia falls to 7-9-1 overall and 5-7 in NCHA play.
The Blugolds and Falcons will face either other again tomorrow. The puck is set to drop at 2 p.m.
