Gymnastics Finishes Regular Season at UWL Triangular

LA CROSSE, Wis. (blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire gymnastics team wrapped up their regular season on Friday as they competed at the UW-La Crosse Triangular against UWL and Winona State University. With eight athletes placing in the top-8 in the four events, the Blugolds set team highs on the bars and beam and totaled 184.950 points for a third-place finish.

Results

UW-Eau Claire hit a season high 45.625 on the bars with help from Tia Ravara (So. – San Leandro, CA/Bishop O'Dowd) and Harriet Toth (Fr. – Regina, SK/Martin) placing 7th and 8th respectively. Ravara scored a 9.200, while Toth recorded a 9.150. Danielle Malecha (Sr. – Inver Grove Heights, MN/Rosemount) also finished 10th with a 9.075.

On the beam, the Blugolds set another team high score of 47.025. Ravara was the runner-up with a 9.700 and Tayla Thome tied for fourth with a 9.650. Christina Leikam (Jr. – Aurora, CO/Cherokee Trail) placed 10th with a 9.425.

On the vault and floor, two Blugolds placed in the top 5. Toth secured her spot at fourth with a 9.450 and Katie Fahrenkamp (Jr. – Waconia, MN) finished tied for fifth with a 9.375.

The Blugolds will turn their attention to the postseason as they prepare for the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championship and NCGA West Regionals on Saturday, March 5th. The eight team meet will be hosted by UW-Whitewater and is scheduled to begin at 4PM.
